Chicago tech companies are coming together for a night of music in support of training and retaining tech talent in the city
CHICAGO, IL - June 8, 2016 – Synap Software Labs, a pioneer in the B2B collaborative CRM space, along with The Chicago Leadership Alliance, a non-profit organization focusing on civic and service initiatives in Chicago, are bringing together the Chicago technology community for the first everChicago Tech Rocks benefit concert on August 25, 2016 at Metro in Lakeview.
The benefit will be headlined by an internationally known garage-rock band from Chicago who, for contractual reasons (oh, rock bands!), will be announced publicly closer to the event. One hundred percent of the proceeds will go towards supporting six tech and STEM learning and training focused organizations based in Chicago.
The event aims to raise awareness and support for the next generation of Chicagoland tech talent by providing funds to the following six organizations:
Lumity: Lumity is making Chicagoland a better place to work and live by providing access to STEM career readiness and connecting nonprofits to vital resources.
i.c. stars: Using project-based learning and full immersion teaching, i.c. stars provides an opportunity for change-driven, future leaders to develop skills in business and technology.
Year Up Chicago: A one-year, intensive training program that provides low-income young adults, ages 18-24, with a combination of hands-on skill development, college credits, and corporate internships.
Genesys Works: enables inner-city high school students to break through barriers and discover through meaningful work experience that they can succeed as professionals in the corporate world.
Project Infinite Green: Designed to support public school curricula and STEM Education Coalition goals, Project Infinite Green ultimately aims to introduce students to the scientific and business aspects of creating clean energy solutions to the challenges we face today.
Black Tech Mecca: Black Tech Mecca is a collaborative community initiative that is building a thriving black tech ecosystem in Chicago by strengthening connections, quantifying impact, and directing growth for individuals, community organizations, and companies.
Leading up to the headline act, the event will also showcase in-house bands from several local tech companies including The Locals, Good Night Criminals from Centro. Tickets for the event go on sale on today, June 8th. A Tesla Model S will be raffled off at the event with raffle tickets available for purchase starting today, as well.
